Supervisor: David Gordon-Rowe
Group Members Present:
Phebe Warren
Molly Palmer
Dawn Gyles

Kerry Taffe
Mr. Gordon-Rowe asked to see the salary survey document; Phebe presented him with completed questionnaires done by various persons in several organisations. She also showed him a copy of the salary data collection form which will be used to capture data within the five companies slated for the salary survey.
Mr. Rowe indicated that we should use the forms for the five companies, Dinthill as well as the JEF survey document as a means of referencing.
Phebe advised Mr. Rowe that the group was finalising the proposal and he would be given the revised document later in the week. He advised the group to leave the proposal as it could be submitted at a later date and focus on the data analysis of the salary survey instrument. Mr Rowe indicated that the presentation should focus on the data collected, findings, analysis and recommendation. Analysis should include standard deviation (use Excel formulas). The group should also collect from Dinthill information as to what they would like to see in their compensation package and compare with the JTA proposal.
The practicum date has been set for Sunday December 14, 2008, at the Worthington Campus Auditorium.

COMPENSATION MEETING NOTES - OCT 26
Compensation Group Practicum Meeting – October 26, 2008.
Members Present
Phebe
Arlene
Latoya
Colette
Practicum Supervisor: Mr. Devon Gordon-Rowe
Phebe indicated that the group felt lost in what it was doing. Mr. Rowe then asked for an update. Phebe advised that the group had prepared a draft of the salary survey and that we had just received a copy of the JTA document, portions of the JEF Salary Survey document and the new salary scale based on the new agreement between the JTA and Government.
Mr. Gordon-Rowe advised that the group was on the right path and that the JTA document would help us in terms of content of the project and the current salary survey draft will form part of the individual final report. The group should now be focused on the survey instruments, in the form of a questionnaire.
The survey instrument should also include questions on pay and benefits, and should not focus only on the teachers as our project involves other jobs such as ancillary and administration.
Mr. Rowe questioned: “how the increase affects the present salaries?” He was advised that the group had not yet gone through the document in detail so we could not provide that analysis at this time.
Mr. Rowe advised that the group for the next meeting should focus on the following areas:
Ø Salary Survey Instrument
Ø Job Summaries (within the five companies)
He indicated that our proposal should be better than the JTA document and it should be used as a benchmark. The group should also look at doing a standard deviation analysis for the salaries.
